PROVISION OF MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES IN VARIOUS TOWNS

The National development vision 2025 desires to attain universal access to water supply services in urban areas by 2025 and cover at least 90% of the population with water supply services in rural areas by 2025; while ensuring environmental sustainability through integrated water resources management principles

The Ministry of Water is implementing various interventions to achieve targets articulated in the national Development vision 2025, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030; Third and Final Phase of national Five- Year’s development plan (2021/2022-2025/2026); CCM 2020-2025 Election manifesto

Furthermore, the ministry continues to implement various water projects through the Water Sector Development Programme (WSDP) in line with the national water policy 2002

On its completion the 28 Towns Project are intended to improve access to clean water from 86.5% to 94.5% in urban areas and 74% to78% in rural areas

Impact

Improved health and well-being of the people living in the 28 Towns (Target areas).


Outcome

Provision of clean, safe, reliable and sustainable water supply service. Availability of water will reduce time spent by vulnerable groups mainly women and children in looking for and collecting water thereby freeing time to carry out other economic activities.


Specific Objectives (Output)
  1. To improve water service by increasing production and distribution of water with good quality to meet the current and future demands for 20 years from 2020 i.e., year 2040 for 28 towns in Tanzania.
  2. To build capacity to utilities responsible for operation and management of water in the respective towns.
